Kilkenny - in the heart of Ireland

Our year-round school in Kilkenny is open to kids and teenagers (12-17 years). Learning English in Kilkenny is ideal for students wishing to live with an Irish host family, to experience the Irish way of life first hand to and to get to know Ireland and its people.
The city and the county of Kilkenny are located in the sunny Southeast, in the heart of Ireland. It is without doubt one of the most beautiful cities in Ireland and a much visited tourist attraction of the 'Emerald Isle'.
Anyone who wants to get to know Ireland at its best, you have found the right place! Even though Kilkenny is only 60 minutes from Dublin, you can experience all that Ireland has to offer.
The city of Kilkenny is dominated by majestic and impressive buildings, the most famous being 'Kilkenny Castle'. 30,000 people live in Kilkenny. Scattered throughout the city are cafés, pubs, galleries and small shops.
The untapped natural landscape in and around Kilkenny is an ideal starting point to get to know Ireland. There are many attractions nearby: St.Canice's Cathedral, Rothe House & Garden, Jerpoint Abbey, Butler House, Kilkenny Design Centre, Mount Juliet and many more.
Kilkenny has a colorful history. In the 13th Century, it was named the medieval capital of Ireland. Kilkenny is also sometimes called 'the marble city'. It got its name because of the black marble, which can be found across the entire county of Kilkenny. Particularly impressive rock formations can be found in the 'Dunmore caves'.

All Irishmen, and especially the ones in Kilkenny (the 'Kilkenny Cats' are - arguably - the best hurling team in Ireland) are sport fans. The sport and leisure facilities on offer in Kilkenny are extensive: golf, hurling, soccer, tennis, bowling, pitch and putt, snooker & billiards, rugby etc.
Even students who like to stroll or go shopping, are not left empty-handed: there are many shops offering international brands in the city center and a number of shopping centers (MacDonough Junction & Market Cross Shopping Centre).
Our school building is located approx. 10 minutes walking from the city centre, in a well-kept suburb of Kilkenny. There are numerous shopping and entertainment facilities on site.
The school address is: Gaelscoil Osrai, Outrath Road, Loughboy, Kilkenny.
